General Election Empty General Election

Post by Admin Tue Feb 17, 2015 7:57 pm

At the election in May I will be supporting Anna Turley and also standing as a Councillor for Labour in the Newcomen Ward. I will be posting election leaflets in the very near future to provide a history of myself and why I want to represent the Newcomen Ward, but for now I will give a brief outline :-

I live on Troutbeck Road and have done since 1959 except for during my army service (nine years, Royal Engineers). I am married to Davina and will be celebrating 45 years of marriage in November. I have three grown up children Bryan, Nicola And Toni, three grandchildren, Lauren, Lewis and Olivia and one great grandson, Jack. 90% of my family and extended family live in the Newcomen Ward. I work as a shoe repairer and have my own shop on Marske High Street. I left school at 15 and started work as an apprentice joiner but left after 6 months to become a telegram boy with the GPO, from there I went into the army where I served from Oct 1968 - Feb 1978 . I then went to work at British Steel on mobile tools at Redcar Ore Terminal and later moved to the coke ovens . In 1981 I went back into the post office . I worked at Cannon Park Sorting Office and served as union chairman in the MLO. I trained with my brother as a shoe repairer whilst working at the post office and went self employed in 1992 . Both of my daughters work for the NHS and my son works within the Redcar steel complex. I am a founder member of Dormanstown Junior Football Club and anyone interested can see our achievements on www.dormanstownjfc.co.uk. I am passionate about providing affordable facilities for the young people of the area.
